Consultant Training #2 - Party Prep

Let's Get Ready to Party!

Hopefully you have received your Consultant kit by this point.  Please review all materials in your kit and sample all your yummy foods!  Make sure you’re familiar with everything and understand the items in the pamphlets.  If you have any questions about the materials, please give me a call I’ll go over it with you.

Having friends over as you open up your kit and try things out is an excellent way to “innocently” expose them to the great products SR has to offer and talk to them about why you decided to become a consultant.  Hey…maybe you’ll get a new consultant or Q-Club member out of it!  (Insert evil laugh here.J)

To prepare yourself for your upcoming parties, I would suggest the following:

1.)      Make sure youve read and reviewed the Party Script a few times.  You can find it in your Consultant Manual that came in your kit, or in the back office under the Tools tab, scroll to Consultant Materials and click on Party Prep on the left hand side.  Then look for Party Presentation Script.  You dont have to do it exactly like the script.  Make it your own and youll feel more comfortable!  I always try to speak from personal experiences, how I use the products, and what interested me about them in the first place.  Go ahead and use notes the first few times.  Nobody cares!  (Click HERE to go right to the script.)

2.)    Watch a Consultant present a party.  You are always welcome to attend one of my parties or you can watch Amber Pearces party presentation online under the Training tab, if you live far away.  http://www.shelfreliance.com/myoffice/training#  (scroll down to the bottom of the page)  I want to get my presentation recorded soon.  I hope to post it in the future.  Keep an eye out for it.

3.)    Make Party Binders for your guests.  A party binder is what I hand out to all the guests that attend my parties.  It holds the catalog, order forms, pamphlets, and price lists.  Click HERE to see how I've made mine.

4.)     Taste-test some of the SR recipes.  You received a Thrive cookbook and the Sample Pack Recipes.  Try them out and choose 1 or 2 items to present at your party.  I try to select items that will show off this months specials.  *A word of warning:  DO NOT make too much food!  It sets precedence for all other parties thereafter.  People will think thats what you do for all your parties and expect it.  This will eat up your food and your money FAST!  Dont do it!  I sample:  The chicken salad on Ritz crackers, the instant milk, and the Beef Enchilada Casserole (from the Thrive cookbook.)  You dont even need to do that much.  The chicken salad, some samples of the fruit – still dry, and the milk will produce just as many sells.

5.)    Make sure you know how to fill out the order form.  If you have questions, call me.
* Tip:  I have made address label stickers that I place on the 2nd page of the order form (yellow page) and on the back of my catalogs.  This way people have my contact information if they have questions later.  (Attached template)  I don't know if that template works the way I downloaded it.  Let me know if you need me to email it to you!

6.)     Make a Booking Binder.  I have directions on my blog on how to make a booking binder.  Click HERE to see.  You dont have to do this right away.  At first I just used an old calendar or my phone.  However, once you start to get busier, you will definitely need to make one to keep organized.  It will help you make sure that you get all the information from your prospective hosts the night of the booking.

7.)    Make Host Packets.  I like to have packets (large manila envelops or a folder) filled with everything someone needs to host a party of their own.  When someone says they would like to host a party, I get out my Booking Binder, select a date from the calendar, fill in their information on the booking pages and then I hand them their host packet. This way I dont have to pay to mail it to them later. If you have time, explain the contents of the package to your future host and schedule a call date 2-3 weeks out from the party, to go over details of having a successful party. Here is what I include in that packet:
  •       A letter to my Host describing what to expect at her party.  (HERE is a link to mine. However, when I downloaded it, it changed the format. The "Host Benefits" are suppose  to be on the next page and I used a cursive font to make it look nicer.)
  •       40 Guests in 4 minutes (Found on the second page, HERE.)
  •       2 Catalogs/ 2 order forms
  •       1 Q brochure
  •       Current Months Specials (emailed only * see note)
  •       Price list (emailed only *see note)
  •       Opportunity brochure and DVD – You can collect the DVD back at the party
  •       20 invitations
  •       3 Business cards
  •       Host brochure
  •       A pouch of strawberries to hand out to people as they invite them. (I buy these for $2.19 with my ½ off using a Supply Benefit Order.)

*These items can all be found either under (Tools/ Consultant Materials/Price Lists) or you can find the item # to purchase them by reading the second page of your Consultant Materials price list (in the same area) and placing a New Supply Benefit Order.  (Click HERE to see how to place a supply order.)

* I always email my host the price list and the specials.  This way, if she has a guest that can’t attend the party, she can email them those items and refer them to my website to look at everything.  Anyone that orders on my website can be tied to her party.

8.)    Make New Consultant Packets.  These are the same premise as the Host Packets, but for people that are interested in becoming new consultants.  First, I always refer them to my website, because under the "Join" tab there is a lot of helpful information to help answer their questions.  I point out the website on my business card and circle it.  Heres what I include in the packet:

  • Opportunity Brochure and DVD
  • Q pamphlet
  • How to sign up to become a consultant Letter (HERE)
  • Consultant Materials Price list (Tools/ Consultant Materials/ Price lists)  Show them the different start up packages.
  • A business card (Already given)
  • I want to make a letter that thanks them for being interested in becoming a consultant and answers some common questionbut I havent done that yet.  Anyone have one already?
  • Set up an appointment date that you will be calling to go over the materials with them and answer any questions they might have.  I write that date and time on the outside of the envelope.
9.)    Make a large copy of the shipping prices.  Youll find the shipping prices on the price list and on other materials, but I put mine in a large clear plastic sign/photo holder that you can find at Office Max.  I sit mine up on a table with all my products at the parties so everyone is aware of the shipping prices.

Some extra tips:
Stock up on a bunch of ballpoint pens and be prepared to have them stolen!  (Wink, wink!) Dollar Tree is a good place!

I also set out an email sign-up list on a clipboard for people that want to receive the specials each month from me and be on my email list.  They can  mark on the clipboard if they'd like to host a party or become a consultant.  I have them place a check mark by their name if they would like me to email them a copy of the price list and specials after the party also.

* Give me a call when you have completed the following preparations and we can talk about your up-coming parties.  Id like to attend your first party, so give me the date so I can get it on my calendar soon!

Get EXCITED!!  Youre doing this!
